This Is What Happens When You Fast

Why fast? Fasting is not a new concept and has been around for a lot longer than one would think. Since man first appeared till the present day, fasting has been instrumental for our survival and for our health.

Our earliest ancestors were nomadic hunters and gatherers, following their food supply where it could be found. The men hunted and trapped animals, while the women roamed the area gathering nuts and berries. They ate what they needed and stored the rest of the food for the leaner months. When there was a scarcity of food, they had no choice but to fast until they the men could arrive at their next hunting ground and hunt again and the women were fortunate enough to find berries and nuts.

Fast forward to the present and while we still fast, although our situations may not be as dire as our ancestors, there are a number of reasons why we would go for a period of time without consuming food. Follow along as Chris delves into the fascinating topic of fasting, voluntary or involuntary, it’s history, and the impact on our bodies over a period of time.
